Renters can live in a medieval castle – complete with six bedrooms and a hidden room for treasure – for less than it costs to rent a one-bed flat in central London.
That's after a rarely available apartment came on the market inside the walls of Grade I listed Bamburgh Castle – costing just £1800 a month.
As well as stunning views over the beaches and countryside of Northumberland and six bedrooms, you also get two reception rooms, one study and three bathrooms split over two floors.
And that's before we talk about the feature windows, turret walkways, quirky staircases and the secret room.
The castle has some impressive modern history as well as its ancient one – having been used in films including Transformers and Elizabeth as well as television series including Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.

By contrast, that sum of money isn't enough to cover the rent on a one-bed flat on Charlwood Street or even a studio apartment we spotted available on London's Old Brompton Road.
To be fair, the studio comes furnished and the £570 a week you're asked to pay for it does include bills – but we can't help thinking it would probably fit inside a single room of the Bamburgh Castle apartment.
Londoners might also struggle to commute from Northumberland, but then again, there aren't many castle apartments going in the capital either.

And you're not getting medieval plumbing along with the merlons and crenels in Bamburgh Castle – with the apartment finished to a high standard thoughout.
